Instructions:

For the apple crumble cake, first prepare the dough. For the dough, mix the butter with the powdered sugar nice and thoroughly.

Then add the 3 egg yolks. Gradually fold in the flour with the vanilla sugar and cinnamon until a nice firm dough is formed.

Put the dough into a buttered baking pan (you can also use a square one) and spread it evenly on the bottom.

For the filling, peel and core the apples. Then cut them into even pieces and let them simmer with the rum and powdered sugar for about 8 minutes.

In between stir again and again. Put the whole thing aside and let it cool down.

For the crumble, knead all ingredients by hand (not with a mixer) until small lumps form.

Place the cooled apples on the dough and spread well. If you have too many apples, you can also put a second layer on top.

After that, still crush the crumble with your fingers, if necessary, and sprinkle it on the apples. Bake the apple crumble cake for about 40 minutes at 180 degrees with circulating air.

The apple crumble cake is best enjoyed still warm with a dollop of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
