For the cranberry compote, sort out the cranberries, wash and drain. Bring the sugar and red wine to a boil and reduce to syrupy consistency over medium heat for about 15 minutes.

Add the cranberries and cook over low heat for another 15 minutes. Stir carefully and not too often.

Finally, pour the cranberry compote into clean jars rinsed with cold water, seal immediately and let cool.

Preparation Tip:

Cranberry compote goes very well with Kaiserschmarren or curd dumplings.
