Instructions:

The soup: Cut the onions into medium pieces and fry in butter until golden brown. Later, extinguish with chicken broth and water. Add garlic and simmer for ten minutes.

The Chässchnittli: prepare grated egg, cream, cheese, salt and pepper (mill) to a dough-like amount. Spread the cheese mixture not too thickly on the toasted Züpfen or toast slices and bake in the oven. Serve separately with the soup.

Tip: A tiny bit of baking soda in the cheese mixture causes it to lighten and rise a tiny bit during baking. This works exceptionally well for a cheese slice with a fried egg.
