For the homemade lard, it is best to use the lard freshly made after rendering the grams. Also, be sure to use the gramme that has formed at the bottom of the pot during the rendering process. If necessary, chop the grams a bit and put them into a nice container, which is also suitable for serving. Pour liquid lard over the grams until they are well covered. Stir a few times and then let the lard set.

Served with fresh brown bread, grammelschmalz is a real treat!

Preparation Tip:

Serve with fresh onion rings, garlic or fresh herbs. Freshly ground pepper and coarse sea salt also go very well with it.
