For the maple syrup muffins, preheat the oven to 160 degrees hot air. In one bowl, sift the baking powder into the flour, add salt and grated walnuts. In the second bowl, mix the maple syrup, cane sugar, the egg, the milk and the butter. Then fold the mixture into the flour and walnut mixture.

Pour the muffin batter into the buttered or muffin paper lined muffin pan. Do not fill too full as the muffins are still rising. Lightly press half a walnut into each muffin.

Bake the muffins for about 20 minutes. Then let cool a bit and decorate with maple syrup glaze, depending on your taste. To do this, mix a few tablespoons of powdered sugar with maple syrup until you have a viscous glaze. Then simply apply the glaze to the maple syrup muffins.
