Instructions:

To make the potato and matjes casserole, start by peeling the potatoes and cutting them into slices. Also peel and finely dice the onions. Cut the bacon into cubes and the fish fillets into oblong strips. Finely chop the dill.

Now melt butter in a pan and sauté onion and bacon until translucent. In the meantime, grease a baking dish with butter and fill half of the potato slices together with half of the onion-bacon mixture into the dish. Spread the matie fillets evenly on top and sprinkle with chopped dill. Top with the remaining potatoes and onion mixture and season lightly with salt and pepper.

Whisk 1 egg with the whipped cream and empty over the entire mixture. Now bake the potato-matjes casserole at 200 °C for about 45 minutes.

Preparation Tip:

A bowl of fresh, green leaf salad tastes great with the potato and matjes casserole.
