For the sterz as a main dish portions pour into 5/8 l of salted and boiling water 2/8 l of cornmeal. Stir quickly and cover.

Let it boil on low heat for another 5 minutes, then turn off the stove and leave the covered pot on the stove for another 10-15 minutes.

After that, cut dumplings and serve with coffee or sour milk. To refine one can stir into the finished Sterz still butter or Grammelschmalz and/or Grammeln.

Sterz is eaten in Styria also very gladly to the breakfast. Sterz is a great iron supplier and saturates very well!

Preparation Tip:

You can also fry the Sterznocken with bacon in the pan. Or serve the Sterz for children with cocoa and a little sugar. Mmmh delicious!
