Instructions:

A simple but delicious cake recipe:

1. peel apples and cut them into fine slices, turn them to the other side in the juice of a lemon and put them in Calvados for an hour.

2. sift flour onto a work surface and make an indentation in the center. Pour in sugar, butter and egg yolks. Sprinkle salt and grated lemon zest evenly around the edge of the indentation. Knead dough quickly, adding iced water if necessary, rest in refrigerator for 30 min. Now divide into two halves and roll out into a circle. One circle should be a little larger, the other a little smaller than the baking dish.

3. preheat oven to 200 degrees.

Place larger circle of dough in a buttered cake pan about 22 centimeters in diameter.

5. mix sugar, flour and nutmeg in a baking bowl and spread evenly over the dough.

6. sprinkle orange peel on top. Place several layers of apples on top, drizzle with orange juice and sprinkle with butter flakes. Place other disc of dough on top and press down well on edges. Prick surface a few times with a fork. Bake the cake for 40 minutes.

Sprinkle finished cake with hail sugar and serve warm.
